Quantcast
Federal judge: Halliburton has immunity
3
psssts

Outrageous.

The Texas federal judge is basically saying that since the military is responsible for protecting Halliburton's convoys, that Halliburton has zero responsibility for their safety. No matter what happens, Halliburton is free and clear. Even if there is provable, gross negligence as seen in the film.

Oh, and the military can't be held accountable for it either. The Republican Congress refuses to hear it and Democrats hold hearings without any power to do anything.

Senator Byron Dorgan: "This appears to give very broad immunity to the contractor. That's an unfortunate result from the standpoint of the rights you would expect an American citizen to have. It's very troubling."

Scott Allen, the lawyer representing the families: "Seriously, where do United States citizens turn to be heard? I thought we were fighting this war, and all wars, to preserve the rights of citizens, including the right to trial by jury within our judicial system. This, in my view, is a sad day not only for the families and men I represent but for our future. We strongly disagree with the decision and intend to appeal."

Remember Hitler and the "Big Lie Theory". The bigger the lie the more people believe it. 51% of the country still believed it this past election, although it seems like some are backing away from it now. If another country had invaded Iraq, or anywhere else for that matter, for no apparent reason, we the United States would have been first to condemn this act and would have called for a tibunal to be assembled to try the leader(s) of that country to be tried as war criminals. But when it is us that have committed the crimes, who questions us? If not we the people then who?

Yikes How did George W. Bush get reelected? I always thought that 25% of the population were morons, apparently I was wrong. It must be 51%.

The war in Iraq has shown that bush will lie, cheat, fabricate and in general, ignore the law and constitution in order to further his aims, which are primarily to make money and inflict his self-rightous point of views on everyone. As Texans , we have grown disgusted by this man and his actions. Bush should be impeached, tried, and sent to prison for what he has done. Instead, even now, republicans are drafting a bill to give him immunity for everything, even lying to Congress, breaking constitutional law and International violations of civil rights.

Mr Shaddock

The USA and her corporate monstrosities have fired up Canadians as well. I'd like for you to think that we are neither ignorant of the war nor a haven for resisters.

Canadians are disgusted by George Bush and Michael Jackson and Celebrity Cancers and Reality TV and 24 hour carchase news. American Idol and all of the other disturbingly stupid distractions that the illuminati would rather you watch than becoming informed about your own activities.

Our cities and more sadly our towns are dotted with red white and blue big box stores (walmart) and companies like Halliburton operate subsiduaries with domestic friendly slogans ( from canada, for canada ). Its nothing less than sad to think that all around the world people are dotting cheap american uniforms and pushing plastic gimmickry all somehow some circular contribution to american coffers.

Canadians are wanting to distance themselves from your so called "war on terror" and all the other blatant extrajudicial activities your (illegal and illegitimate) presidency is commiting .

The american dream erodes culture and destructs self identity within society. Please dont suggest migration here.

I don't what's more insane,the fact that the Bush administration robbed, raped, and utterly destroyed a country just for profits;

Let us see here:

Lying to go to war.

Severely screwing up said war.

Giving your friends NO-BID CONTRACTS.

Committing WAR CRIMES!!!

This isn't something that needs to be proven. It's openly admitted. So my question is why aren't these people being arrested??

Am I the only one who sees a problem here?

Can't we do a citizens arrest or something?

The current dictatorship is doing all it can to control the herd, by pulling one scam after another. Blatantly, setting up "terrorist threats" & many other sinister diversions to keep the sheeple in a FEAR-based mentality, so that they will eagerly bite at anything that even vaguely appears to be for their safety! BAH!!!! It's time to lift the veil of illusion which has been shrouding everyone for way too long now!
They spend immense amounts of time & money to learn more ways of controling the masses. Keeping so many brainwashed, drugged, desperate & focused on mere survival, doesn't allow them a moment of spare time to seek the truth. The SHEEPLE must pull their own heads out of the feed bucket full of "crap" they are chomping on & realize they are surrounded with healthier options, in order to progress toward being truly FREE & reconnected to a much higher good for EVERYONE involved in the BIGGER picture. As the scum rises to the surface to be revealed, let's put our positive forces together to cleanse it away! Light will ALWAYS transform darkness! SO WAKE UP ALREADY!!!! It's way past time for COMPLETE reform in ALL areas! They can all begin by having the computer chips removed from their brains so they can regain some human compassion & integrity. If that is even possible...
Their own actions will lead to their demise.
It's all about FREEWILL & what goes around comes around, so WATCH OUT! Let's do ourselves & the whole world a HUGE FAVOR & IMPEACH BUSH/CHENEY NOW!!! TIME TO CLEAN UP AMERICA!!!!

Oh, and have you heard of spell check? The reality-based spelling is hypocritical.

Mr. Shaddock, If you turn your head to the right (it shouldn't be difficult for you), you will see a link for "Facts & Research". You might want to read a little "before bashing" someone whose only crime is bringing out the truth.

Also, telling someone to "move to Canada" for exercising their right to free speech, and blaming them in advance for future terrorist attacks because they disagree with you makes me wonder if you work in the Haliburton (sorry, Cheney), (oops, Bush) administration.

Research....

Mr. Greenwald needs to perform and conduct some actual research before producing a film about the controversies surrounding the Iraq war. Through a personal relationship with the Lesar family, I am aware of numerous trips Mr. Lesar has made to Iraq in the past few years. He has been shot at and has risked his life in Iraq. Although he is paid very well, he works extremely hard long hours. When you basically create a city in a conflict ridden foreign country in about a month, you should not expect for it to be perfect and you should expect to profit from it. Most of Mr. Lesar's compensation has been through stock options, not salary.

The US government doesn't have the ability to put together that large of an operation.

Try looking at both sides of the argument before bashing our nations companies and governments. If you don't agree with the war, then protest the war or move to Canada. Don't be hippocritical and make a documentary, wildly profitting from ridiculing companies, CEOs, and the US government. Also, don't complain when there is a proliferation of attacks on the US and innocent people around the world.

Anyone who isn't troubled by this disturbing development isn't paying attention. This must be overturned. I don't want to believe this will fade from public consciousness without private contractors being held responsible for the lives of those whom they employ.

How in the hell the general public prioritize cash over the rights of American citizens? Speak up, and speak loud.
