I've been lucky enough to be on the road with Iraq for Sale the last couple days and have had the chance to see the film come to life in all kinds of inspiring ways.

I arrived in Washington DC on Sunday and met two of the film's heroes in person for the first time- Shane Ratliff and Edward Sanchez- both former KBR/ Halliburton truck drivers speaking out against corporate profiteering. After watching footage of Shane and Ed for months, and talking to them on the phone- I felt like I already knew them and, in a way like I had stepped into the film.

Monday morning we all heading down to Capital Hill for the start of a day that forced Washington to pay attention to the issue of profiteering.

Senator Dorgan joined Robert, Ed and Shane for a press conference in the Senate building about Iraq for Sale and the issue of war profiteering. With one of the infamous monogrammed KBR hand towels in hand, the Senator spoke about Iraq for Sale as a key part of a very necessary focus Americans need to start putting on the issue of corporate profiteering in Iraq. Shane and Ed's personal stories made the need for oversight Dorgan outlined clear on a very human level.

After the press conference we headed up to a hearing room where the Democratic Policy Committee held their 10th hearing on War Profiteering. I'm nerdy enough to get sucked into CSPAN from time to time. So, for me witnessing one of the key stories in Iraq for Sale- that of the Good Friday Massaccre --being presented to the DPC, where it would be heard by key policy makers, was pretty damn cool.

But, it was also infuriating. Ed Sanchez, and several others spoke out about their experiences working for KBR in Iraq and answered questions posed to them by Sen. Dorgan, Leahy, Reid and Durbin. These Senators have been trying to pass legislation to halt profiteering for years - but have never had the support of enough of the Senate to do so. One can only hope that the tales that came out yesterday--- of money for troops spent on a KBR Super Bowl party and and attempt to swindle an injured worker with the false promise of a medal-- will help shift the balance.

The DC day was capped off by the District premiere of Iraq for Sale sponsored by the Campaign for America's Future.

Having worked on the film- I've seen Iraq for Sale many times now- but last night was extra special because we were joined by so many people in the movie - Ed, Shane, Janis Karpinski, Bunnatine Greenhouse, Charlie Cray, Scott Allen, Massie Ritsch, Geoff Millard, Kelly Dougherty, Sarah Anderson and Allen Grayson were all there. The politically engaged DC audience combined with the presence of all the brave patriots in IFS produced an energy that made me really hopeful- the movie is coming to life and people are ready to take action.
